Time For Change!

 Time For Change!

In recent weeks we have seen the adverse impacts of selective sharing of information and failure to provide full information to the community as required by Nevada Open Meeting Laws .  As a result we have created further discord in the community based on “he said/she said” arguments.

Our community deserves better than that!

It is clear there were several mis-steps along the way and many missed opportunities for communication.  It is time to accept shared accountability, and improve our performance based on the lessons learned.

The withdrawal of the proposed Duffield Foundation funding has been a blow but it has highlighted the very high priority that the community places on proceeding more quickly with the improvements previously agreed in the Community Master Plan.  Yet  while these improvements were identified and agreed in 2018 the Board has not allocated funding or initiated any work on them.  Expansion of the recreation center for all age groups in accordance with the expressed wishes of the community should now be a priority for the new Board to address based on the views being expressed by the Community.

In parallel with this the new Board must review our current backlog of capital projects to ensure priority is given to maintaining and improving our current infrastructure and facilities to meet community needs.

Soliciting and listening to input from all sectors of the community must be an integral part of this replanning process.  We must also be realistic about what level of investment the District has the capacity and capability to physically manage to ensure successful delivery on time and within budget.

It is time for Change!

We need responsible, knowledgeable and accountable Trustees who will:

  • Be fiscally responsible while maintaining and improving our facilities
  • Listen to input from all stakeholders
  • Ensure our venues remain accessible to and meet the agreed needs of our community
  • Provide leadership and oversight to ensure a sustainable future

I have had had an extensive 46 year professional career both in the Utilities Industry and as a Consultant with a proven track record of improving both business performance and customer service. For the past 2 years I have been a member and Chair of the IVGID Audit Committee.  I am truly independent and I bring the necessary skills, knowledge and experience. I ask for your support to ensure a long term, sustainable future for our community and environment through effective stewardship, oversight and governance.

 My commitment:

  • I will work with other Trustees to accelerate delivery of agreed community plans

  • I will be accessible to, listen to, and represent all the community – not just special interest groups
  • I will be open, honest and transparent in my actions – no hidden agendas, no back door deals, no discussions hidden from the publlic
